Setting Up Schlage Encode Plus with SmartThings
How to connect and configure the Schlage Encode Plus smart lock with Samsung SmartThings.
Prerequisites
- Samsung SmartThings Hub (v3 or Aeotec Smart Home Hub)
- SmartThings app installed on iOS or Android
- Schlage Encode Plus installed on your door
- Wi-Fi network available at the lock location
Step 1: Prepare the Lock
Ensure the Schlage Encode Plus is installed and powered on. The lock should be within 10 feet of your SmartThings hub during initial setup.
Step 2: Add to SmartThings
- Open the SmartThings app
- Tap the + button and select Add Device
- Choose Schlage from the brand list
- Select Encode Plus
- Follow the in-app pairing instructions
Step 3: Configure Lock Settings
After pairing, configure user codes, auto-lock timing, and notification preferences through the SmartThings app.
Step 4: Create Routines
Set up SmartThings routines to automatically lock the door at night or when everyone leaves home.
Troubleshooting
Lock fails to pair: Factory reset the lock by entering the default programming code followed by 0, then retry pairing.
Lock status not updating in app: Ensure the SmartThings hub firmware is up to date and the lock is within range of the Zigbee mesh network.
