  4. Alternatively, say “Alexa, talk to the front door” on any Echo device

Advanced: Guard Mode Integration

Ring works with Alexa Guard to enhance security:

  1. In the Alexa app, go to More > Guard
  2. Enable Guard mode
  3. When set to “Away”, Ring will provide enhanced motion alerts
  4. Alexa Guard can also detect glass breaking and smoke alarms

Troubleshooting

Alexa doesn’t discover the doorbell: Disable and re-enable the Ring skill. Ensure both Ring and Alexa apps are signed into the same Amazon account.

Echo Show doesn’t show video on doorbell press: Check that “Doorbell Press Notifications” are enabled for that specific Echo Show. Ensure the Echo Show firmware is up to date.

Motion routines trigger too frequently: Adjust the motion sensitivity in the Ring app (Devices > Doorbell > Motion Settings). Reduce the motion zone area or lower the sensitivity slider.
